Learning disability care services we offer
With our holistic view of at home care, we build a learning disability care plan to meet each individual’s needs.
Here are some examples of the most common care services we offer to our clients:
Personal Care
We promote autonomy and independence in all of our care clients, and deal with the sensitive matter of personal care with warmth, compassion and empathy.
Whether it’s bathing, grooming, dental or skin care, or even managing toileting, our care staff will always respect client wishes and allow them as much privacy and self-sufficiency as possible/appropriate. Where we need to help with their comfort, hygiene or personal care, this will be done in the most supportive and least invasive way possible.
Our staff are trained in the use and management of bathing and toilet equipment and can assist clients in any way required.
Medication Management
Our at home carers are all qualified and experienced in the management, administration, storage, disposal and recording of medications. With our tailored care plans, we can be as hands-off or as hands-on as you wish, even working alongside your healthcare professionals to help support the effective management of conditions and symptoms.
Food and Drink
Our private learning disability care services cover meal times, snacks and drinks too – because regulated nutrition and fluid intake are essential to physical and mental wellbeing.
- Helping to plan meals and snacks, create grocery lists and assisting with shopping, all centred around the client’s input and preferences
- Cooking in companionship – carers encourage clients to get involved as much as possible, preparing and cooking together as a social activity
- Taking care of chopping, slicing, and cutting up food if the client requires support
- Assistance with PEG and alternative feeding routes
- Detailed record-keeping of any allergies, intolerances and client preferences
Laundry
Our learning disability care at home support is very much focused on encouraging independence, while stepping in to take care of those tasks that are outside the client’s capabilities.
We can guide and supervise clients with washing, ironing and putting items away, and all laundry duties including bedclothes, curtains and any other fabrics and coverings, offering help at every stage where needed.
Household Chores
Learning to look after the home is a valuable, key skill and a big step towards independence, so we’ll work with you/the client to ensure that domestic chores are assigned effectively between client and carer.
Contributing to their own sense of comfort by keeping their home environment a pleasant space to be can be very empowering for adults with learning disabilities – but they’re not alone. Our staff are happy to help out with any household duties (within reason), with our role agreed during the initial consultation process.
From cleaning the kitchen after meal times, to dusting, vacuuming and mopping floors – or even drying down slippery surfaces after personal care support – we’ll work in line with the client’s desires and personal abilities.
Companionship
Combating loneliness with compassionate and caring companionship is a huge aspect of our private care support. We all need to share, talk things through, reach out for advice and simply have positive people in our lives that are there through the ups and downs.
At Candour Care, we recognise the significance of these relationships to our overall happiness and wellbeing, which is why we strive to build strong connections with our clients and their loved ones. When you choose our private learning disability care services, you can be assured that we see every client as the unique individual they are, learning about their character and responding to them in a natural and friendly way.
